Scholars who master magic through rigorous study, wielding vast but carefully prepared spells.
Wizards are supreme magic-users, defined and united as a class by the spells they cast. Drawing on the subtle weave of magic that permeates the cosmos, wizards cast spells of explosive fire, arcing lightning, subtle deception, and brute-force mind control. Their magic conjures monsters from other planes of existence, glimpses the future, or turns slain foes into undead servants.
Wizards learn their spells through dedicated study and memorization. They can prepare a wide variety of spells, choosing from a spellbook that contains the spells they have learned. To cast one of these spells, a wizard must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. After a long rest, they can recover some of their expended spell slots.
Wizards are fragile in combat, often relying on their spells to keep enemies at bay. They typically wear no armor and carry only a few weapons, focusing instead on their magical prowess. Their deep understanding of arcane lore allows them to identify magical items and decipher ancient texts.
